Help!! I died my hair brown and it now has a purple tint. How can i make sure another die wont do the same?

I chose a brown temporary hair die and died a small section of the hair to see what it would look like but it has gone purple (or at least has a purple tint!!) It did not say it had a purple tint on the package, How do i know if i buy another die that it won;t do the same. (my hair is medium/light blonde). Thank you :)

That's what happens to blonde hair! You read the packaging to see if your hair colour is suitable to be used with the dye. Blonde usually says NOT RECCOMENDED. Buy a better hair dye that works on all colours ;]]

Your blonde hair grabbed the base color of the dye. You need a filler in your hair before you can go darker, if you want it to last and look good.

Molecules are bigger in temp colors and once they are on your hair it's hard for us colorist to fix it. Our molecules(in permanent color) are smaller and just can't compete very well with the temporary colors.

Stay away from the temp pharmacy colors and go to a salon to color your hair...please!!

As a hair stylist i will give you my greatest opinion. Your hair faded to a different color because you bought a temporary dye, and your hair is not dark enough to catch so you have to do a double process. Go to a beauty supply store and buy a permanent hair color by redken or wella, mine is a chocolate brown/espresso brown gorgeous color by redken called DATE. since your hair is light you will have to do it twice, do it once then do it again a week later then you will have enough pigment so it will actually catch...  so for some people it turns red for you it turned purple dont worry just do it again and buy a color treated shampoo, go to a beauty supply store and ask them for their best color treated shampoo and buy the brunette one. its like a toner you will wash your hair with it in the shower and leave it in for only 5 minutes then wash it out, it will help you maintain your color .. good luck :)
