What are some things that I can do to mask this horrible odor and taste? The smell of this coconut oil even makes me want to vomit. I know that this oil is suppost to be good for me, so I do need to take it.

  1. ha ha, i like omar's response.

Tim J. is right. There are two different kinds of coconut oil. Refined and unrefined (virgin).  Personally, I think refined tastes better (it has a neutral taste) and is just as good. You might be losing some antioxidants in refined -- but the medium chained triglycerides (good fats) and lauric acid is still there, which is what gives you energy and helps your thyroid. Try refined.  If you have some virgin stuff left over, use it for cooking. Works good for scrambled eggs. It loses it's nasty taste when cooked. Hope all this info has helped. best of luck to you.

  2. Tree nuts are healthy for a lot of people, but would kill a lot of others...

    Use caution!!!

If something is making you sick, don't do it... Just because it's good for someone else doesn't mean it's good for you.

  3. I know exactly what you mean...  Keep in mind there are two varieties... :)

The first type is a virgin "unrefined" coconut oil.  It smells and tastes like coconuts.  Some people say it is healthier, but since I am only interested in the MCT's, and I really do not like coconuts, I really do not use the stuff...

The second type is expeller pressed from dried coconuts.  It has a neutral taste, which is good because I personally like putting it on the frigerator and having it on my toast in the morning... I also use it for cooking and even on my popcorn, by the way.... Meaning, I personally would not want the taste of coconut on any of these things.

Also, as far as the non-virgin type being "damaged"... Not likely...  In fact, I have tried both, and the energy side of things feel identical to me.

Good Luck and I Hope this Helps...

  4. What type of coconut oil are you having. Myabe the type you have is mixed with something else.

Try virgin coconut oil capsules. You can even just swallow them if you wan t to

  5. If you hate it, why don't you try some other healthy oils (such as avocado or olive) instead. Coconut oil is nutritious, but it's not the only good-for-you oil on this planet.

  6. what the h**l? artichokes are supposed to be good for me but i stay the h**l away from them.

go find a different way to ingest the nutrients you're looking for in coconut oil..

  7. Simply put don"t use it.

  8. Build your tolerance slowly. I remember when I was getting into healthy eating I would just eat it an get it over with. Sure I would do that whole almost gag thing and shake my head, but then I chased it down with water. I just adopted a "I'll get used to it" mentality. I made it like a  game, sorta of like"i have to get used to eating bad foods so I can tolerate all kinds of stuff". If you want to be healthy, you are going to have to eat a lot of stuff that at first might taste gross. But keep at it, and you get used to it and it just becomes normal.

add a little bit at a time until you get used to it. Try plain coconut oil first if you need to or if the plain is the  one giving you troubles, try virgin (the one you should be using because the plain isn't as good).

You can try to add coconut oil to a shake or as an ingredient to something instead of takingi it by itself. Many peopel make jiuces and add the cocnut oil, or a protein shake with whey and blueberries or something. Maybe add some stevia?

Coconut oil is to dang good to not use. It's the only oil thats heat stable so use it for cooking. Don't look for the limits like the guys above me posted, look for the solution to how to still use it instead of just giving it up. You won't get sick if you use coconut oil regulary.

  9. they have it in jell cap form! and make sure you eat something with it.

  10. Put it in a smoothie like bannana. strawberry, blueberry, or ur favorite fruit mix. Coconut oil is very good for you, and i couldnt stand the taste either. Make sure its a good quality oil so your efforts are worth the trouble. Oh and applying it to your skin is great too, makes ya very soft! :) Hope this helps. ps try good old pluggin ur nose when you take it if you must. Why do you use coconut oil, i mean is it for something specific?... if you could revise your question, im just curious.
