I have an older TV that needs the router, for my DVD player, first of all. Then does it make a difference which goes first, the VCR or DVD player? I called Direct TV and they told me to check with manufactorers, please!!!! some tech support.

  1. you should connect the Tivo's Input to the wall using a coaxial cable.  It always needs access to the TV signal, so it makes sense to directly connect it where if the VCR were between it could be shut off and your Tivo wouldn't be able to record anything.  If you have a separate Direct TV receiver, connect the Tivo's input to that instead, so it can receive the satellite signal.  After that, it doesn't make a difference what order you connect them!
