  1. Depending on the person's nationality, I would contact that particular embassy. Your question implies that you may have the person's airline ticket.  If that's the case, call the airline and leave the information. Surely, this person has discovered the loss by now.  If you know the hotel that he is staying in, contact the front desk and leave a message.  I bet by Monday afternoon this person will be making a lot of calls, so if you can leave a telephone message at his residence, he would probably access it.

  2. Try contacting the carrier he's leaving on. In most cases you have to call and confirm your flight. If someone loses their papers there is almost always at least a hint of where they are staying. If you have a telephone number even if its overseas somewhere drop a dime and make contact. The call won't be much and won't break you and you will be doing a good thing. I travel all over the world and believe me it is a horrible thing to lose your papers. I've been there.

  3. I would suggest to find Jamaican Embassy in your city or city closest to you and ask them about it. If no Embassy near you, call or go to nearest police station. If you find somebodies personal documents your duty is to report it to authorities.

  4. Contact the embassy. Those visiting who lost their documents will have already contacted them to figure out what they are to do to get back home.  The embassy will be able to contact them and let them know you found their passports. They will be very pleased and relieved. If it was me, I would definitely give thanks that such a decent person found my documents. Happy New Year!

Boy is this a tough one.

This is the website for the U S embassy in Jamaica.

Maybe they can help you find him.  Do they have fax machines there?  Maybe you could fax them to him.

I sure wish I could help you more.  If I think of anything

else, I will pull your question back up and add to it.

    My very best to you,

    Hope

  6. hey, contact the police or the embassy/consulate nearest to you. If you're in mobay, the consulate is on bottom road-st.james place to be exact. If you're in kingston, i think its up by ligunea somewhere like thaat. good luck.

  7. Seems like you have done everything you can do.

  8. Call the police station nearest to where the items were found. Leave a contact number with the police if you don't want to leave the documents.

To be really helpful, you should also call ALL the radio stations (news department) and ask them to issue a public service bulletin. You only need to give the surname and perhaps one other name of the person. You have picture IDs so the person doesn't need to identify them self really.

If you are going to meet them, I also recommend meeting them at the police station to return the documents.  That's very important for your own security. Do NOT give anyone but the police YOUR full name and don't give anyone but the police your address or residential phone numbers (and only give the police if they ask you).

You could perhaps call the numbers overseas and try to find someone who CAN contact him. Make a guess about who seems important in thier phonebook and try (if you can afford to).

You should definately call the local numbers for the major airlines he may be travelling on as well. He may be trying to contact them to change his flight date.

    EDIT:

if the person is a US citizen, call the US embassy's emergency number. Its manned 24/7. Thats the number the person would have to contact to solve their document problem.

If the person is of another nationality, then call the respective embassy/consulate.

Personal numbers, police, hotel, airline, radio, embassy. There is not much else you can do!

  9. i had this happen to me.... in jamaica

i lost my birth certificate, passport and immunization...

someone found it, went to the radio station and they announced it over the radio, then called us.

we went to the station and got our stuff.

i say try to call the radio or police station, or take it to an embassy..
