Help! I have to ship my ferrets! How do I do this without paying an arm, a leg, and my firstborn child?!?

I have two adorable little ferrets and I need to get them from alaska to michigan about three weeks or so from now.

My mother-in-law is taking my cat with her aboard the airline because it's not too expensive... but apparently the airline isn't what you'd call ferret friendly. They want about $200 to ship our ferrets...

I understand they are living, breathing little people, and that special care has to be taken.. but between the health certificates and shots and the fact that I am moving as well.. I just need to find our if there are more cost effective means of transporting them (without endangering them in any way).

cant you just ask whoever you are shipping them out to, to help pay with some of the cost?

or hide them in your mother in-laws coat. ha ha. Only kidding.

I'm sure if you ask the airline company if there is a cheaper way they might find something. If not, the first idea might help.
