Help!! I just made a new partition with bootitng and the partition says not bootable what do i do to make it?

Title says all i made a new 30gb partition for windows xp since the other one is vista but when i try to boot it it says its not bootable and also this partition can not boot some os how do i boot it so i can install windows xp????

  1. Only one partition can be a bootable. The primary one. The secret is that in the boot partition of the primary OS, there has to be a menu to call operating system in the other partition.


  2. If I am understanding you correctly.

    You just created a partition on your computer, we will call it drive D.

    Drive C currently has Windows Vista on.

    Now you want to install XP on Drive D, but when you turn the computer on and it tries to boot (should try to boot off of Drive C since this is the primary partition) it says it is not bootable?

    Or

    Now you want to install XP on Drive D but you don't know how to?

    --Have you tried booting off of the XP CD (After going into the BIOS and changing the boot sequence to CD first)?
