  1. Aer Lingus is only $1100 for the one way ticket.  Check kayak.com

Also, sometimes it is cheaper to buy a return ticket and throw away the other half.

  2. It might be cheaper to take the train/ferry to England and look for a special there...Heathrow to JFK...and continue.

  3. Buy a RT/Return and forfeit the return!

  4. Search the net, otherwise I do not think they will bargain with you, If you have some freq.flier points and a history of travel on that airline, that might help.

If you have flown on them or a partner fairly often, get the dates/prices together, ask to speak to the ticket office manager and have all your information ready and able to verify.

If your in luck, they will say "oh we have a loyal customer and lets cut a deal" If you bounce all around on different programs/carriers, well just better search for the lowest ticket and go.

BTW, the lowest ticket might be round trip, just look around

  5. Phone reservations to see if you have any credit left on this unused flight segment.  Youll have to pay change fee ($200?) + any change in airfare, but it might be the cheapest option.  Otherwise...

Cheapest *published* fare I see for the region is $878 o/w total Brussels-O'hare 21st July, from AA.com (take the train up to BRU airport).

Other published: Shannon (Ireland)-ORD $568 o/w total USAir.com.  Try http://www.ryanair.com to Shannon from Beauvais.  If you go this route, get to Ireland at least a day early and stay in Galway if you'll fly back from Shannon (don't stay in Shannon or Limerick--been there, done that).  Missing your flight might turn into something good!

Also check consolidators which are often cheaper for one-way and international flights.  Try de.kelkoo.com one-way flights search (a Yahoo flight shopper in Germany) which will check published as well as unpublished (consolidator) fares for you.

  6. If you have a US military ID card of any type you can fly space A, otherwise talk to Luftansa and see what they can do for you.
