I either want the Rebel XTi (400D) or the XSi (450D). Which is the best camera for me? And what lenses are the best overall that can be used with the Rebel? Please answer!

  1. I like the xti a little more because of the build quality. Although, memory cards are a little more expensive than the easy to find and cheaper SD used in the xsi.  Even though xsi has 2 more megapixels and live view, I think the xti is a little better because of the build quality and the more megapixels in a small sensor like the xsi means more noise which isnt really desireable. As for live view, you cant autofocus constantly with it so its not as useful as you think it is.  There is no best overall lens. It solely depends on how serious you are with your photography and what do you want to shoot.  Wide angle, telephoto or macro.  Get a standard 18-55mm to start out with and maybe upgrade to the tamron 17-50 if you want to get more creative.  Those are good lenses that will cover all the normal shots from semi wide to semi tele.
