I want to give our apt a face lift but we are not permitted to paint the walls, even if we paint them back when we move. They are a horrible HIGH gloss off white. Also, our living room is very large for an apt. 14'x13' so you can imagine how annoying big plain walls are. My decor colors are Light Green, Ivory, Gold, and Dark Cherry Red with Cherry wood. Does anyone have suggestions for me to make my place look fresh and airy with horrible white walls? Here is a link to a picture I drew up of our floor plan.

  1. get an extra large renneissance piece to go on one of your wals. something with some red and some green.

believe you me, it will look great!!

    go xxxtra xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxtra large

doesnt have to be an origiinal, though it would be better if it were!!

  2. I love interior design. it rules

  3. Get some big paintings or like some of those straight material curtains that you hang on the wall they look really effective if you choose the right materials to go with your deco!! There like metal things that you slide material in overlapping each other I think they come from IKEA Oh and Some floor lamps for night that cast like a big nice coloured shadow accross the walls

  4. How about hanging curtains long enough to cover the walls from ceiling to floor in the color of your choice? Get skinny curtain rods and secure them end-to-end, at the very top of the walls, making sure to hide the ends with the curtain fabric. (Try to find rods without the fancy k***s and such on the ends.) If you don't want to spend a lot of money on that many curtains and rods, you could space them apart the same width as, or more/less than the curtains to form vertical stripes for more visual interest.

  5. in my daughters bedroom every two years we change her theme.  the walls were becoming a problem due to too much paint and wallpaper!  i decided to use fabric.  you can get removable adhesives at your local craft store that wont damage the wall but are hardy enough to hold the fabric in place.  measure your walls including the windows and purchase your fabric.  remember the fabric comes in yards.  hopefully you can sew if not the sell tacky fabric glue that you can use.  put your adhesives on your walls and put up the fabric like wall paper!  use your tacky glue to glue the pieces of fabric together ( do this before you put it on the wall)  try to make sure your seams fall in the corners of the room.  to hide the edges of the fabric by the cieling and near the floor i took cord ribbon and painted it the color of the cieling and base board.  i ran this along the top where the fabric meets the ceiling and along the bottom of the entire room.  if you pick a fabric with a light pattern you will not need any pictures or anything!  this technique can be so complimenting to any room and fun to do.  it will not damage your walls when its time to come down and will leave no evedence that it was ever there!

    good luck and have fun
