  1. Crossword puzzles are an excellent way to increase your vocabulary.  Since you are already an avid reader, stretch yourself by reading different genres, as well.

  2. I made my daughter watch TV with the closed captioning on for one hour every day.

She had to read her TV and you will finally know what Boomhauer (king of the hill) is saying.

They used to have a channel where the news scrolled - that is a perfect way to read and comprehend as well and if you need to pace a speech it is the perfect speed.

Get busy with crossword puzzles a very good way to increase vocabulary.

Find an online dictionary and get busy there - usually looking up one word leads to another- pay attention to roots and origins because that will help you begin to understand other words.

Get in the habit as soon as you don't understand a word - look it up.

you can increase your vocabulary, while at the same time donating rice to poor families:)

  4. You can get a Word of the Day from www.m-w.com or from http://dictionary.reference.com/wordofth...

Reading is the best way, but be sure you look up words that are unfamiliar to you.

  5. read a novel. i can't even understand some words there.

  6. Read things that you find interesting because that will help you get through it quicker and you'll be able to read more
