  1. Walmart!!!! I found great prices there like about 10 dollars for an aquarium filter! And you can get a 30 gallon there but its like about 40 dollars.

  2. Yes you can put them together, but in different numbers! Platys need to be in a ratio of 1 male for every 2 females, so the females are not constantly being chased by males wanting to mate. Ghost catfish are a schooling fish, so it is better if you have them in groups of 6 or more. Also, do not add them to the tank until after the tank is cycled b/c they are very sensitive to ammonia. Zebra danios will also be happier in groups of 6+, so yes all those fish can be together, but they need to be n higher numbers.

EDit:At pet smart you can get a 29 gallon tank with the hood and florescent light for 75$.

  3. Try Walmart, 29 Gallons, $98 with the filter and kit included but i think you need to buy a heater.

And yes, that would be a good combo, except minus the catfish and get three more danios, they're schooling fish and need to be with others. Catfish are the same way so unless you want a ton of fish, pick whichever you like better. Also Bettas can be placed with other fish, male or female. If I'm wrong I must not have a 45 Gallon tank with Gouramis and a male Betta. They're aren't supposed to be a good pair. (But I do have that exact tank.)

  4. Go to Petco! They have this whole kit with everything you need in it for less then $100 when they are on sale. And you can put all the fish together as long as the betta is female.

  5. You can probably get the cheapest tank set up at Wal-Mart.  Most kits come with a filter but not a heater.  But don't get your fish there!  I keep hearing so many bad things about Wal-Mart fish.  Our local Wal-Marts don't carry fish, so I don't know about it personally, I've just heard a lot of horror stories.  You'll definitely want to get more than 3 zebra danios as they tend to be nippy if you don't have enough of them and you don't want them nipping at your betta.  It's the same with the catfish, so pick which one you like better and just get several of them.  Or else go with littler catfish, like 3 pygmy cories.  They won't bother the betta and he shouldn't bother them.  It all depends on the personality of the betta though.  Some are just more aggressive than others.  Try to look for a mellow betta if you haven't gotten it yet.  Not one that's lethargic, just one that's not flaring like mad at every fish in sight!
