Hello! I live in Gravesend in Kent (UK) and I really need to borrow or hire cheaply a 5-7 tiered cupcake stand. My sister is getting married on 20th September, and the prices for these items are horrific and I really can't afford it. I would be willing to pick up and return from anywhere in Gravesend, with a returnable deposit if needed. PLEASE can anyone help me? Thank you so much x

  1. i don't live in gravesend, but i have an idea! if you have a cooking school nearby you could ask to borrow the cupcake stand or perhaps rent it. i'm not sure it would work, but worth a try.

  2. If you can't find one you could always make one... Gather up some pretty tea cups and plates...put the tea cup upside down and the plate on top... you can mix and match colours.   Of course you could likely only do 2-3 tiers and would want to ensure the cup and plate are secured in some fashion...anyhow...just a thought

  3. Try calling catering companies, party rental companies & restaurant supply companies & ask about renting.  Also, check on Ebay.  If anything, you might be able to buy & then resell it after the wedding to recoup some of your expense.

Another idea - are you handy?  Know someone that is?  I would think these could be made using a dowel & circular wood pieces.  Then you could paint and/or add lace/ribbon trim.

ADD: here are DIY directions for one that doesn't even require wood!

  4. I have found a company for you who hire cupcake stands for around £5-£10...they look good- here is there website address www.childrens-partyhire.co.uk

You might also find a stand at a car boot sale or you can also buy a seven tier clear stand on ebay for around £50.00, which you could sell on after wards.

Just in case you need any ideas for cupcakes I run a cupcake business - www.polkadotcupcakes.co.uk - thought you might like to take a look. We hire our seven tier stand for £15 but based in Eastbourne  I reckon it will be a bit far for you.

Good luck with finding a stand.
