Question:

Help! I think there may be a rattle snake nest in my backyard! How do I kill them?

My neighbor called me saying his cat had scared off a snake into my back yard, which we think it originally came from, last year they also killed a rattle snake near my house, but this one was just a baby, the one we just saw right now is a like 2 to 3 feet long tops, and we're afraid its made a nest under the cement cause there's a hole, we poked at it with a stick, but its really hard to see since there's grass...Is there some kind of venom I can put in there so they can die?

  1. Just throw some rocks and pour a heavy congcrete cement down and it probably seals the deal.

  2. Get in touch with Animal Contron or your local SPCA.  If they don't take care of them, they should be able to tell you who could help.

  3. i would recommend calling animal control....however, being that i am from Texas...i would also, depending on your living situation i.e. large plot of land you live on...or notify your neighbors....and i would get my shotgun and blast a few buckshot shells down the hole....then dig it up some and have someone stand ready with the shotty if or when they come out...good luck....any poisons could get you in trouble with the EPA if your neighbors see you....

  4. call the poison control or the health department see what they recommend.

  5. I would call Animal Control (or the Non-Emergency Police #) ... they are a danger to the neighborhood.  GOOD LUCK!

  6. u can close up the hole with cement....

  7. well you shouldnt kill them, but i understand since you have kids. maybe you should just call animal control and explain your situation and maybe they will come remove the snakesand let them go in another area. please dont mess with them unless you are a pro. they are very dangerous!

Also, you could always find a Black Racer..lol

I have one in my yard (i also live in the woods) but i make sure i never bother it because black racers keep off Ratle snakes!

Be safe and the best thing to do is just not let the pets outside (or at least in the area that u think the snakes are in) and also keep the kids away...
