I'm 18 and he'll be 25 in June and we're looking to go on a cruise at the end of the summer. I was just looking at one imparticular and it said no one under the age of 21 can board without a parent or gaurdian. Is this the case with all cruises?! And if so what gives :(

  1. Hi Rachelle.  I am 22 and my bf is 20 and we are currently booked on a cruise in August through Royal Caribbean.  We booked with a travel agent and she checked everything out about the age restrictions and said that RCI's rules state that no guest under the age of twenty-one (21) will be reserved in a stateroom unless accompanied by an adult twenty-one (21) years of age, or older. This age limit will be waived for minor children sailing with their parents or guardians in adjacent staterooms or under-aged married couples (proof of marriage is required). Royal Caribbean International reserves the right to ask for proof of age. I think you will be just fine if you choose to go with Royal Caribbean.

As far as the other lines for Carnival guests are required to be 21 years old (on embarkation day) to travel. Guests under the age of 21 must be accompanied in the same stateroom by a parent or guardian 25 or older. The exceptions Carnival will make to this policy are:

Married minor couple - The booking must be documented that the couple is married. The couple must have proof of marriage at embarkation or they will be denied boarding without the benefit of a refund.

Domestic Partners/Same-s*x Union minor couple - The booking must be documented that the couple are legal Domestic Partners/Same-s*x Union.  The couple must have legal proof of partnership/union at embarkation or they will be denied boarding without the benefit of a refund.

Guest ages will be verified at embarkation. Guests not conforming to this policy will be denied boarding and assessed a 100% cancellation penalty. NO exceptions will be made at embarkation.

Princess I believe that you just need to be 18 or older without a parent/guardian.

Take a look at the links I have provided and do some research, and when you do book your cruise have a great time.  A cruise is such an amazing experience!  Bon Voyage!

  2. He is the standard rule for most cruise lines.

anyone who is 18 or younger traveling on a cruise must have a parent, guardian, or chaperon.  This person must be 25 or older at the time of the cruise and is not required to be a parent.  If the parents are not traveling they must sign a notarized letter stating that the person of 25 yo or older has permission to take their child out of the country.

This is common for most lines, but I would call them to make sure.  As long as he is 25 and he has a note from your parents (notorized) then you are fine.
