In Jan /08 I was on Vacation in Punta Cana for 2 weeks, and fell in love with the country, the language and the people. I was offered a job at the all inclusive resort I was staying at. I would love to work there, but the hotel manager said I need dominican residency in order to work at the resort. Does any one know the procedure of getting temp. residency (cedula) for the dominican, and if so how much it would cost? I only want to go for 6 months maybe a year to see if I like working there, because I am sure it is completely different than being there on vacation.

Thanks!

  1. This is what you need.

    1. A birth cerficate translate into spanish legalize

    2. 2 copies of your visa or tourist card

    3. 6 Pictures 2x2

    4. Job letter

    5. Passport copies

    6. lab test

and extra tax payment. (this procedures can cost about US$500 if you do it yourself, but if you hire a lawyer about US$1000 or more)

You can work without a provisional residence

you just need to pay tax .

From 3 to 9 months $500.00 (dominican pesos)

From 9 to 12 months $2,000.00 (dominican pesos)

    Good luck!!

Hope this help you a bit!!

  2. To get the " residencia" it take's a few months and you have to be here because you must go visit a doctor and go to a lab to have some test (aids/Hiv). The cost is around 1.000 US$ (depending the lawyer fee). All the needed documents must be translated in spanish and stamped at the embassy of the Dominican Republic in your country. Take as much info as possible before doing this steps!!!

    Hope this helped !
