Help INTERNET Problems!?

Question

Hi , I Have a Dell Latitude 6600 Laptop which was given to me about 2 hours ago as a present it has 1 gb ram Processor a Petinum Centrino 1.5ghz or something Hdd 30 gb Here my problem it had loads of rubish on the pc so i re installed windows xp ( was working on the internet ) so i put in the Virgin Disc it keep coming up Erra Their is no Ethenet installed however it working everything flashing fine also when i loaded the orperating system it has no NETWORK set up completly blank so i dont know whear to go from here iv tryed setting up a conection manualy doesn't work and the disc telling me i have no ethenet also the virgin disc iv runned on loads of pc and has never ever said INSTALATION Complete it always says their a problem but normally set up the conection but it not working this time help me Thanks Joe

you need the drivers for any hardware the XP system did not cover. There should have been a recovery partition on the machine to use, this would have automatically done this. Otherwise you will need to download the full driver set from their site, but will need to use another machine to do so. And running updates on a machine with NO CONNECTION does not work!

u need to install all the drivers including the Lan driver which is responsible for the connection

another thing is you dont need to install Virgin media CD as its needed for one time use cos u already on internet

Dell has 2 cd s

first is the operating system

second is the drivers  u need to put the second CD  and install the drivers

if no drivers Cd found then install from Dell site

If you don't have the driver CDs you'll have to download the drivers from Dell's site, put them on a CD or flash drive and install them on that computer.  Check the site to see which drivers came with that particular computer for XP.
