Help!! Im 16 and only weigh 111 pounds!

Ok so I weigh 111 pounds and im 16 and 5'8''! please help me im soo skinny and I want to gain weight so bad.

I just started working out but im afraid that will just make me lose more weight!! I try eating and it doesn't help. Is there some kind of medicine or something I can take?? thanks!

  1. Eat a lot of protein gain weight, then start working out.


  2. Working out won't necessarily make you lose weight.

    Working out burns away fat and builds muscle, and actually muscle weighs more than fat.

    It sounds like you just have really high metabolism.

I'm not positive, but lifting heavy weights might stunt your growth in terms of height since you are young, but aside from that, heres how you get bigger.  Lift heavy, very heavy.  Then feed yourself a lot of calories daily.  By working out hard, you are giving your body a place to put those calories rather than just passing them through.  Workout separate body parts daily.  Give yourself at least 2-3 days between body parts so they can rest. But make sure you eat a lot. At least 115 grams of protein and whatever else after that since you are thin.

    Here's why working out hasn't worked for you.  If you workout light it's like a cardio workout.  You are burning fat, almost like going for a jog.  But if you lift heavy, you are tearing your muscles and therefore the calories will be used to rebuild the muscles.  And the way your body will defend itself from that happening again it will build the muscles even bigger.  Then you will be able to lift even heavier.  When that happens, make sure you lift heavier, and continue to tear those muscles slightly and gradually. that is the cycle.  And remember, it isn't going to happen over night.  Just make sure you keep eating.  You will also gain fat during this time but don't worry about that.  Once you get as big as you want to be, then you can start eating less and work out with lighter weight and you will see the fat just shed right off and your body will look nice and ripped.  

  6. the easiest way to gain weight is to sleep and then eat... because all of the calories you got while eating aren't being burned when you sleep but stored as fat... so eat a big meal right before bed or whenever your going to sleep...
