  1. It almost has to be the Underground Railway--the words "very dangerous route to freedom"  and "organized" rather than "founded" or 'established" tend to give it away.  Just to be sure, however, just google 'underground railway forganized.."


  2. In 1838, the Underground Railroad became formally organized by black abolitionist Robert Purvis. Under direction of the railroad's "agents," numerous slaves made spontaneous escapes from the Confederate South, while others used highly organized systems.

    However, I just checked and In 1838 the United States began the removal to Oklahoma of the Cherokee tribes in Georgia.  This removal could be considered the beginning of the "Trail of Tears." And I have no idea about the Mississippi Riverboat Route or the Ohio River Passage.
