ok so I graduated college in 2007 and got a degree in History. I tried teaching and that fell apart. Now I'm working at a clothing store to pay the bills. However, I don't want to work there forever so I enrolled in the Library and Information Science program at San Jose State U. I'm thinking about either becoming either a school librarian or a Database Manager. Yet now I'm having second thoughts about the program. I'm lost- should I drop grad school and go become a Nurse or Dental Hygienist, even though I can't stand the sight of blood or any other bodily fluids and it makes me queasy? Look- we are in a recession and I need a practical career. Yet I suck at math and I have a low IQ (I've been tested by psychologists). So what should I do? I don't want to graduate from grad school just to end up working at the mall! Any suggestions (and please DO NOT say business!)? And don't say "do what you love"- heh tried that and look where I ended up!

Hehe...or maybe i should stay in school until the world comes to an end! J/k :(

  1. There's no good answer.  An MLS is a fine degree but the jobs don't pay much and they're in schools or working for municipalities.  Will that kind of pay handle your debt load?  Nurses are in demand and the pay can be quite good.  However, at least in training you've got those pesky bodily fluids and there's some amount of math.  If you're really confused, why not take a break from school, learn MS Office and get an office job.  Maybe you can even get a job for a company that has tuition reimbursement.  Hmm, how about bank teller???
