Help ! Ipod nano not showing on Windows !!?

I plug the cable in and theres sort of a half sound, but not the proper one were used to . Like when you plug in a usb or something. Please help, this has been bugging me for days. I tried a couple of solutions, resetting my ipod, changing the port its plugged into , what else can I do...Without that plug I can't charge it and listen to important podcasts.

Mak sure you have a full power USB connection (many laptops and keyboard connectors only give 100mA max ratehr than the full 500mA, also do not connect via an unpowered hub either.

connect it direct to the computer on a full power USB port and it should be OK.

make sure you have the latest itunes installed 7.7.1 (7.8 due soon)

and reset the ipod before connection (menu and centre key till screen blanks then connect once it lights up)
