Help! Is my Cockatiel hurt?

He has his wings clipped and was flying around on the floor and had kind of a funny landing in the corner of two walls meeting. He didn't react and when I put my hand down he hopped on like he normally would. I played with him a little while longer and when I took him out of his cage later, I noticed he was holding one wing slightly further away from his body when he was relaxed. He was on a playgym and decided to fly off of it at that point and then I noticed also that when he landed, the wing I was referring to stayed out for a little while longer. I saw him stretch it while perched, but then he started stretching both so I don't know. I don't see any blood and he isn't acting different.

  1. he probably sprained his wing. you dont know if it is serious or not so just watch him for another day and see if he gets better. if he doesnt seem to be improving or is getting worse, i suggest you take him to the vet to be checked out. hope hes ok and its just minor =]

  2. if you can, try and take him to a vet. just in case. maybe call in instead since you have taken a lot of detail to the issues. good job and good luck

  3. He's just a little scared.

or you cut to much feathers and cut his actual wing instead, he holding it like that cause it hurts him. check his wing, if there smething wrng take him to the vet.

  4. First inspect his wings to be sure no feathers are out of place or broken that could be just irritating his skin.  Since his wings are clipped it's possible one of the feather shafts was damaged either when you clipped them or when he landed and is simply rubbing him wrong.

If you don't see any feathers that are causing this behavior then consider the bruised or sprained wing possibilities.

  5. take the bird to the VET....
