i am having a fourth of july party at my house that my church told me to host. the problem is that my backyard is not yet done, it's just the muddy surface that it came with when we bought it new. I seriously need an idea to cover the mud, i tried looking at fake grass, but that cost too much because i only need it for one day, then i will actually do my backyard in a couple of months. Please is there any cheap way to do it

Thanks

  1. Wow....it sounds a little rude for your church to "tell" you to host a party, let alone without finding out if you can or not first.

Personally, I would ask someone at the church for help.  Not to sound vindictive, but they are the ones who ordered you to fret and stress about this party to begin with; the very least they could do is help you with it.

And you might want to find a church that doesnt order you to have parties and such.

  2. Truck in a couple loads of sand and make it a "beach" party.

  3. You must attend a strange church if they feel they can "tell you to host" a gathering when you don't really have the ability to do it.  Tell them to move it someplace else.

  4. Be creative!

Why don't you try have a themed party and work some kind of flooring into your theme? Like a cowboy or tiki party, and you could cover the mud in hay (pretty cheap, btw) and leave a couple bales of hay for people to sit on.

Or you could buy a bunch of blue tarps and secure them to the ground with stakes or nails. You could try something creative like throwing confetti all over the tarps. If you had confetti all over the ground you wouldn't need to explain why you had tarps down, people would assume it was so your cleanup would be easier.

  5. Why don't you tell the church to have it somewhere else and if they say no then pass out garbage bags to tie over shoes cheap too!!!

  6. you might try breaking up a few bales of straw over the mud. it always works for barn dances:)

I've seen it used on constructions sites and the side of the highway, too.

  7. Tell them you can't do it, or ask them for advice.  They should chip in for the grass or something to cover the ground.  Otherwise, someone else should host it.
