Hello. I have a parakeet who is just growing his wings back from being clipped. He's gliding around my room, and he loves people. I usually take him out to parties and stuff. Kids love him. I wanted to know if there even is such a thing as a parakeet leash. I know I have heard of a flight suit before, but I don't know if it's true. PLease help me out, if you know a website with a leash or something for me to buy, can you please post the link. Or is there something at home i can make? Thanks so much. =)

  4. There is such thing in pet stores. I live in Singapore and i normally see them in those bigger kinds of petstores or farms. So you can take a look at them in your country.

  5. Dont ever put something around your birds foot, he is not a bird of prey and you can break his leg.

Yes, there are flight suits, but they are usually for a little larger of birds.

I think there are harness available nowadays. You can check out the Aviator Harness (i dont know if they are made small enough for a parakeet, but they might)

However, harness training takes time, commitment and consistency as it can initially frighten you bird.

    Hope that helped

  6. um yes their i s harrness at your local petco or petsmart i got my bird one at petco tho but you could get his wings clipped again

  7. You can think in harness.

  8. Yes their are flight suits available that you can attach a leash to.  Absolutely do not use braces (aka leg leash) and a parakeet or any of the commonly kept pet species.  These are intended for raptors who's legs are much stronger (designed to catch prey)  and can easily cause an injury in other non-predatory species.

  9. The best thing to do is to keep your parakeets wings clipped. You can buy books on just how to do this the right way.

And than still put a small harness when you have it out side. But always keep a good eye on it at all times. Or you might just see him fly away.

    I hope this will help!

I found flight suets at Dr. foster smiths on line. They have lots of sizes to choose from
