I noticed that his right eye wouldnt open and was kinda goopy. Like allergys. I have a friend whos hamster does that so i knew what to do. I just dont know if it is contageouse. Cuz both of the hamsters share a cage. I dont want mine to get it. And what is it? Is there a medicine i need to give it? Also, if you could get this from a website, please tell me what site. 1. i used to work at a pet store and saw this alot, it never affected the other hamsters. it normally was temporary and cleared within a few days.

  2. Sometimes when hamster gets gunk in their eyes they could have a cold. Just keep an eye on whether they are eating and drinking . If their attitude changes it can be a signal that something is wrong.

  3. er its normal but ur not supposed 2 put 2 hamsters together they gunna killeach other..btw do research be4 u take responsibility of an animal..

  4. Don't listen to the last few people. It could be an eye infection, which can be deadly if untreated. Or a respiratory infection or something worse. Hamsters don't get common cold virus issues like people do. If it continues you should see a vet.

This pet store worker is the reason most kids' hamster die shortly after they come home. Untreated infections leave internal damage that builds up, even when the symptoms clear up after a few days. The next infection is twice as bad, and so on until it finally dies from having more damage than its body could stand.
