I have been going to a private Christian school my whole life. I am in the 8th grade now and this is my last year here because they don't offer high school. I am thinking about going to a private Christian college prep school next year. Is this the right choice for me? Will it get me into a good college like Baylor University ot Texas Christian University? I know that I need a good GPA, and the high school is accredited by the Texas Ecucation Agency. The high school is called Chisholm Trail Academy and the website is http://www.ctanet.org/ if you would like to take a look. This is the recommended schedule and I will be taking the 29.5 unit course. My classes will be somewhat like this:

freshman:

Religion I

English I

World Geography

Integrated Physics and Chemistry

Algebra I

Physical Education

Health

Study Skills

Speech

Fine Arts

sophomore:

Religion II

English II

College Prep Biology

Geometry

Physical Education

Spanish I

Technology

Fine Arts

junior:

Religion III

English III

World History

Chemistry, Anatomy, Phisiology, or Physics

Algebra II

Spanish II

Technology

Fine Arts

senior:

Religion IV

English IV

Government/ Economics

Senior Seminar

Chemistry, Anatomy, Phisiology, or Physics

Mathematics of Money or Pre- Cal

Spanish III

Technology

Fine Arts

For the record I am totally committed, and the school requires me to take atleast 5 honors classes!

  1. The real question is for you. What do you want to do after school- what type of career field?

You have attended Christian school your entire life. If you are not intending on going into seminary or a religious based career field, you may want to consider attending a standard prep school where all classes are built around getting you the best education possible and to prepare you for college and a career. This does not mean you are dismissing your faith, you are just adding to your commitment to your education.

Not all Christian schools are equal- have you taken any standardized testing to see how you stand up against others your age? This will give you a good baseline to see how you prepared for the next level of schooling. If you rate high on these tests, you can probably attend any school you want as long as it meets or exceeds the standards you have experienced so far. If not, you should attend a traditional prep school where all classes are directed at maximizing your education.

Chisholm Trail's ranking is consistently "acceptable"- this is basically the lowest "passing" grade.Even if you rank at the top of your class, your efforts may be discounted compared to students who didn't do as well but did so at higher ranked facilities.

If you are serious about your education and future, and it sounds like you are, the best thing for you to do is to contact an admission s counselor at the University(ies) you want to attend. they will be more than happy, for free, to tell you what your chances are and the best steps you can take to get where you want to go.

Good luck. And remember, your faith can be practiced at other places besides school. Not going to a Cristian school does not make you a bad Christian.

    Good luck.
