Help!! Its not Working?

i have recently downloaded Windows Vista SP1 and it has successfullyy downloaded and when itriedd to install it an error occured it said...

spinstall.exe

spinstall.exe is not a valid Win32 application

i was wondering what is wrong and is there anything i can do to resolve this?

  1. You may have registry errors and invalid entries. Try to scan your registry for errors. It is free. You can run a free scan at the link below.


  2. OK a little more info may be needed. Now this may seem like a dumb question, or I might hit it right on the nose... Are you trying to install Vista? Or are you trying to run Vista's SP1 on XP? Or are you already running Vista? If you are trying to install SP1, but you're on XP, there's your problem. It's for Vista only.

    I only ask because I came across someone who did just that on a websearch, they had your same problem.

    If you're already running Vista, forget about downloading the standalone SP1 and just install it from Windows update:

    Start>All Programs>Windows update
