Help! Little ants in the kitchen!?

Hey there, so I have ants in my kitchen. D: I swear, it's clean. they are little and black, I've been up for most of the morning vaccuming them up. I've mopped, and swept, and vaccumed, how do I get rid of them? I can't spray anything toxic, because there are kidsa nd animals living here, so any tips? I don't know what to do, they are coming from under the oven. D: HELP!

I can tell you what will kill them almost instantly.  Get a spray bottle & mix 50/50 alcohol & water. Spray them.  It won't hurt the kids or the pets.  

Your next major task is to follow their trail back to where they are getting in.  Any small crack is a possibility.  Gotta seal that up.  Caulk is cheap and it works for that.  

Now to keep them from coming back.  I have a brick house & apparently the weeping holes to keep the brick from molding, also lets ants in.  I put a bay leaf in each weeping hole, actually my grandson did that part.  I just pointed them out.  I also bought a bottle of ant block from Wal-Mart & sprinkled across the thresholds on the outside of the house.  Haven't seen an ant in 2 months.

Sugar ants.  Get some TERRO Ant Killer.  Just put a few drops where you see them.  Don't put out much but keep feeding them a few drops as they eat it.  In a few days they will be gone.  This stuff is liquid Borax with maybe sugar in it.  It's the only thing that I have found that works.

The key to keeping ants away is to deny them food, water, and shelter. Store food in tightly sealed glass or plastic containers. Clean up crumbs and spills immediately. Keep counters and cabinets spotless. Keep sink AND OVEN areas dry. Clean garbage cans regularly and secure their lids. Fill cracks and crevices.  

To stop ants from invading the house, sprinkle a few crumbled BAY LEAVES on windowsills. If ants are flocking to youir flour and sugar bins, place a couple of bay leaves inside. Replace them every month.

These are sugar ants. You need to use some ant spray. Just spray where you see them coming out at, and then it should not be harmful to your children and animals.

they sound like sugar ants and will literally take over if you have anything sweet setting out.  Get some Terro Ant Poison, and put it on a piece of cardboard or something that they can climb up on, then place it where they can get to it, but the kids and pets can't.  They will eat it and take it back to their nest and eventually they will be gone.

Another thing: to stop them from ever coming in ..at the beginning of summer, get some of the Ortho pest control granules ...sprinkle it all around the outside of your house.  It usually works all summer long and it will keep all sorts of bugs out of your house !
