If you put your baby up for adoption in Colorado Springs, CO around 67-69 please let me know. I'm looking for my mom's birth family to try and learn more about family things. She only knows she was adopted from CO and that she was told the orphanage that had her called her Mary. Her birth certificate says July 1968. They don't know an exact day though and have sense just picked on. Please if you can help, let me know.

  2. FYI.........just so its covered. If your Native American you may have a hard time. The "adoption" act as I call it wasn't passed yet.Good luck thoe.

  3. My adoption papers give the name I had before my adoption.  (I was only 5 weeks old when I was adopted).  I knew what state my birth mother lived in and I went from there.  It was an unusual name.  I got out a map of the state, started calling DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE and circled cities that had residents with that last name-- putting a number by it indicating how many residents had that name.  After that, I started making phone calls and asking questions.

I was really careful how I stated my questions, though, as I didn't want to give out information to people (like their family and relatives) that wasn't meant to be known to them.

  4. Colorado has a confidential intermediary program that unfortunately costs about $875.  This program is state sponsored and the original adoption records are open and a person is assigned to locate the birth family and request that contact is made.  There of course no guarantee that the locate will be made or that the request for contact will be accepted.  If contact is refused the files are close and the person searching receives no info.  This rarely happens though.

    Good luck
