  1. idk

  2. what kind of computer is it?

  3. I have the same router and you shouldn't need to update the firm ware. To get the wireless to work on your laptop you need to set the WEP security settings and get the WEP KEY. To do this hook up your laptop to the router using a Ethernet cable. Then open a web browser and in the address box type in 192.168.1.1 On the main screen you can change the name of the router "recommended" and set the password "HIGHLY RECOMMENDED" Write these down and save them if you forget them your screwed. Go to the wireless tab. Set the Basic box to MIXED. Pick a channel and enable SSIP.Save these settings. Move to the wireless security tab. Here you set the mode to WPA Personal, Algorithm to TKIP and write down the Shared key. You will need this to set up your wireless connection. SAVE your settings.  On the wireless MAC filter tab check the disable button. Save and exit. disconnect your laptop from the ethernet cable. Click on the icon in the system tray for your wireless connection. Scan for your network and when found enter the shared key when prompted. Good luck.

  4. To configure the router you should be connected via a network cable, not wirelessly, to it.  The URL you should use likely will be http://192.168.1.1/.  I believe by default the username is blank and the password is admin.  The .BIN file is something you upload via a page on the router config screens.  It will use that to upgrade itself.

    Hope that helps.

  5. You shouldn't need any cd or anything to get it to connect. Just reset the router and modem and restart your computer. Then make sure there is no firewall on your laptop that is preventing you from connecting. Thats normally the issue. Plus it always takes computers bout 10-20 minutes to connect to a new router for first time.

  6. Here is your router support page.

    http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite...

There is a link to the firmware upgrade utility on the page.

The correct default router address is 192.168.1.1

  7. Type 192.1.1 into your web browser.  This will take you to the router .  The default password is admin. Go to the administration tab and click on firmware upgrade.  This will bring up a window, find the downloaded file and click okay.

  8. are you trying to go to 192.168.1... or 192.168.1.1??.. because that might be your first problem.. and unless you have the wireless set up already you have to be phsyically plugged in to access the administration page for the router.. but once you get there you can easily use the wireless wizard that's built in to set it up.. and as far as the firmware update.. it doesn't have an installer buit it.. so you have to install it from the administration page.. when there will be a tab that says firmware and give you the option to browse for a file.
