So I got my passport application back today from the British Embassy in Washington. For you see, I am a british citizen, living in the US, without a SSN, Green Card, or Visa. I came here when I was 3 on my mother's passport. Because that was in 93 before I needed my own passport. I am now 18 and trying to get out because I can't live in the US. But I got the passport application back today telling me I needed better photo ID, and the passport I came into the country on. I cannot get that passport because it was destroyed and I have explained that but they just said I needed that. And then there's the better ID, It says a passport or a green card, neither of which I can get. So then it mentions documentation of ID, what does that mean? Please, any help you can give is appreciate.

  1. The UK passport office is at http://www.ips.gov.uk/passport/apply.asp and they point you to http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travelling-and-... if you don't live in the UK and they pretty much point you back to the embassy.  They do have provisions for if your passport was lost or stolen so maybe you need to declare that the passport you came in on is officially lost, fill out a form or something.

Do you have your birth certificate and at least some form of ID?  You should be able to get a birth certificate at http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/order_... if you don't have one.  Maybe you can apply for a temporary passport.  Otherwise you can go to the British embassy and refuse to leave unless they help you.

What would happen if you were caught as an illegal alien and deported?  Would the UK refuse to take you back because you don't have proper ID and passport?  It's kind of a worst scenario idea but you wouldn't want to do that if you end up stuck in detention because the UK refuses to take you back.
