Question:

Help Me Find A Camera, Please?

Hi. I am looking to buy a digital SLR camera that is able to accommodate a few things that I would like it do. I am looking to spend around $1000, maybe a little more.

-Great with concert shots/low lighting

-Great with moving objects/no blur

-Great with portraits

-Can view potential shot on screen prior to taking (been told this is a

feature very few SLRs have)

-Not too difficult to use

Hope I don't sound too picky. Just hoping to find a good one to do the job I need. Also, I have asked store employees but each one suggests something different!

Thank You!!

  1. check out the Canon XSi. its right in line with your budget and will do what you want with no problems. the kit lens is good but you may want something a little faster for moving targets. you can see a comprehensive review of the camera and lens at dpreview.com.

  2. You are spending well. Go to Futureshop, etc. and feel the camera in your hand!! Talk to the professionals at camera only stores too!

  3. I'll go down the list...

For low lighting and concert scenarios, you need a camera with a high ISO.  This has to do with your camera's sensitivity to light.  When your camera is set to a high ISO value, it is very sensitive to light.  Most SLR's have great ISO ranges.

For moving objects, you need a high ISO and a fast shutter speed.  This is something that pretty much all SLR's will do fine with.

For portraits, you will need a lot of the same thing to ensure sharpness with no blur.

Not many SLR's have live view.  In Nikon's acclaimed line-up of Digital SLR cameras, only the D300 (very expensive) includes live view.

All of this said, I would recommend...

    Good luck!
