I had an after-hours doctor come out to my house last night (well they go here at about 3.45 this morning) and he said I have / am developing a middle ear infection. I haven't had one for years (like since i was really little). Just wondering WHAT CAN I DO FOR THE PAIN? it really really really hurts :( i have taken panadol (paracetamol) and the doctor gave me antibiotics (but they're to help the infection clear not with the pain). So can anyone tell me ways that I can ease the pain?

Thank you :)

  1. Plenty of Whiskey helps!

  2. Keep up with the panadol, place a warm/hot face cloth or a gel heat pack behind your ear, not over it.

  3. All you can really do is wait for the anti-biotics to do there job. It can take a couple of days. Until then just keep taking paracetamol every 4 hours and rest as much as you can. Hope you feel better soon. I also have a middle ear infection right now and I am in pain and just took some paracetamol and am waiting for it to work.  God bless.  :)

  4. The doctor gave you Panadol (acetominaphen)?  -- That's like Tylenol, which is a pain reliever.

  5. Ouch!!!  All you can really do is take the painkillers and try not to touch that ear.  The antibiotics should start working fairly quickly, until then just be really careful with it.
