  1. How old is your hamster? if it is nearly two years then there is probably not alot you can do ... they tend to take not well when they are coming to the end of there life ... i had one that had a lump grew from its eye n i got a cleaner from the vet to clean it and it didnt work so i dont think there would be much they can do ... but try takin it somewhere if you want to know for sure!

  2. This happened to mine i wouldnt recommend the vet only because they will tell u to bath the eye with salt water. use a paper towel and dabb it in the salt water and gently wash the eye i would recommend you have one person to hold and another to wash the eye(s) and also for the person holding it i would recommend gloves as it is possible they may bite

  3. poor little hamster! i love hamsters...take her to the vet and see if they can do anything to help it i hope shes not in pain:(

  4. it will clear up in a day or so if its anything like mine was. not a dwarf hamster. but hey take her to a vet to be sure dont just rely on me, i think it died a few months after that but i dont want to worry you.

  5. There are definitely things which can be done - I have given a roberovski hamster medication by mouth from a syringe!

First of all, try wiping her eyes with a damp cotton pad.  If that doesn't help then take her to a vet.

Roberovskis have a life expectancy of about 3 years, so she has plenty of time with you left!

  6. My rabbit had the same thing! Her eyes were watery, had a gooey discharge, and kept sticking together. I took her to the vet and they said it definitely was Pink Eye. So maybe you should take her to the vet... They don't charge very much just for eye drops. But I warn you most vets don't really have very much experience with small animals.  Our vet didn't really know much about rabbits and said she was going to do a little "experiment" and gave my rabbit a shot made for dogs and cats. If your vet wants to administer any medicine meant for other species of animals I highly recommend against it. Rodents have a very different immune system then other pets. Also see if she feels hot. My bunny had a high fever and died a few days after we took her to the vet. (I'm pretty sure it was the shot that they gave her.) So I am not sure if Pink Eye is linked with that. If it's Pink Eye separate her from her sister immediately. Don't want to have another sick hamster! Pink Eye is extremely contagious so it's best you wash your hands after touching her.

    Hope she feels better soon.

OMG moment- I just researched off of Wikipedia and found out that Pink Eye is also Conjunctivitis!!

    You were right on!

    Good luck with your hamster!

  7. Oh, my! I am so sorry. Please take her to the vet. That is really the only option left. I hate seeing animals suffer, and I am sure you do too, so please get her checked. If she really has an infection, it could spread.

Good luck, and I hope your hammy gets better. : )

  8. your best bet would to take her to the vet.sometimes i heard a chinchilla had the same problem the person bathed him in water and it stopped.but that can cuase hamster to have a cold, flu,or wet tail.u have to know how to bathe hamsters first if u want to do that routine.good luck! (i recommend to taker her to a vet though) :) hope i helped
