1. Radio Shack used to sell a $4 booklet on how to install cable tv coax in a house. How to run it through walls, etc.

  2. ok. well, if all you want to do is drill a hole, then yes any drill and a drill bit will do the job. but if you want to pass a cable size wire from one room to another that is another story. you will need to make the hole large enough to accommodate the wire and the fitting (what is on the end of the wire that connects to the tv or whatever.).any drill will do as long as you are drilling in drywall. cinder block/brick/concrete will require special drill bits. then you have to "fish" (pull the wire from one place to another) and as long as there are no beams or joists in the way you are good to go. you can use a wire (or an extended, stretched out hanger) to find the cable and pull it through the new hole, but this can get messy and make the hole you made bigger or distorted, making things ugly. cheap is not alway good, and right is not always possible. so you have to decide what is best for you. hope this helps

  3. You could do that. But be WARNED!! there could be live electrical wires where you wish to drill. Not knowing the exact layout of the rooms I can only offer general advice. If the cable outlet in the room with cable has a cover plate then it will be less of a problem. Remove the cover plate and you should be able to see into the wall separating the rooms and drill safely. You will need to use a signal splitter if you both want cable in your rooms. If you want to just switch the cable to the other room a splitter is not needed. If you want the cable outlet on a wall that does not adjoin the wall it is now on and you have a basement you could come up through the floor. Depending on your exact situation you may want to get some advice from someone you know personally that has some knowledge of cable tv. Good luck.
