  1. tiger barbs when they get a little bigger will be aggressive to your tetras, but tetras are cheep don't worry to much. silver dollars, pleckos to clean your tank, gouramis, tetras, barbs of all kinds if you desire, there is a smorgasbord of fish you can get. pet smart has a good amount of fish also.

  2. 6 neons, 4 tiger barbs, 5 rummy nose tetras, 6 danios!! Awesome fish!! 2 corydoras, 1 or 2 plecos. 2 platys....

  3. I dont know about what petco sells, all stores are different, BUT I was actually at walmart in another town i visited they had these BEAUTIFUL fish, neon glofish. They come in neon yellow, orange, and bright pink! I bought one of each for my tank, they just add a sparkle of flare to the tank.

    Look at the photo below!

  4. I love rummy nose tetras and neon's I would get at least 12 of each for a nice school but you don't want to many different schooling fish in a tank because they wont have room to school.

By the way those glofish are just zebra danios whose slime coats were stripped so they could be dyed those colors. It is very bad for the fish and is not a practice I wish to promote. Zebra danio's should look like this: http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?...

  5. you should get lots of them fish are awesome!!!!

  6. Get a school of 6 each so that they are all together and why not also put in some danios ( 6 for a good school).

  7. don't order fish from Petco. Even if it's online.

I'm not practicing what I preach, because I just purchased some angel fish impulsively from there ( I felt sorry for them). Petco is kind of like the McDonald's of the animal world, espescially when it comes to stock animals like Fish. They are ordered from not-good conditions. That's why when you actually walk into a petco, all the salt water fish look sick, all the tropical fish have ick, and are beat up- I imagine that even if you order them online, they're going to come from the same place.

Liveaquaria.com has a great selection of fish, and I ordered most of the fish that I've ever had, from setting up my first easy tropical community tanks.

Always healthy, and up and swimming, and they don't even stress as long when I first put them in the tank compared to that short drive from the pet store.

Tetras, Danios, Mollys- all good for community tanks.

Research your fishes behavior in community tanks online, or even ask somebody in a local tropical fish store (people in pet stores never know anything, unless they're family owned) about the behavior and the compatibility of the fish being in your tank.

  8. just to let you know if you get schooling fish, most likely they will be sucked into a filter so thats a problem but i would get plecos kissing gouramis, opaline/blue goramis, snails, and dwarf frogs, get 4 of each but for the snails get 8
