Help Me :(?

I am in eighth grade and I just tried out for select choir for high school. She told me that I basically didn't make it but to try out in September. You see I am a boy but my voice hasnt changed yet and I cannot sight read music. So I was wondering if the reason why she told me "no" for now is because I am not yet a tenor or bass or if I just am not good at singing thanks

  1. maybe she has too many people already

prehaps she is waiting for people to drop out?

    idk

  2. This doesn't necessarily mean that your singing is off. The other singers might be better, she might already have all the males she needs, and so on.

There is computer software that analyzes your pitch and tonality when singing. It also probably wouldn't hurt to hire a singing tutor for 6-8 weeks.

  3. She doesn't need boy altos? It's not like the audience knows what part you're singing.  Did it seem like she was just being polite when she suggested you re-audition? Ask her bluntly if she honestly thinks you can sing, and be prepared for the answer. Sometimes an off-key Chip is cast for the adorability factor, not singing prowess.

Work on your sight-reading skills in the meanwhile-- it's an invaluable ability if you sing and audition.
