  1. Maybe it's in the way you say it.  If you're saying they are ugly, you are insulting her taste.  So  she has every reason to be offended.  Is she buying you clothes because she doesn't approve of what you want to buy?  Are you trying to show too much skin or boob or something?  If that's the case, maybe you can compromise.  Maybe you can pick out your own clothes, but respect her desire for you to not be too s**y for your age.  If that's not the problem, how about if you tell her that you appreciate that she thinks of you and picks out clothes for you but that your tastes are changing and you'd like to shop with her.

She may just want to be involved, which is not a bad thing.  But you should communicate with her in such a way that you don't hurt her feelings.  And if she brings home something that you can make work, let her know you like it.

---My daughter is 8 and I've just learned the lesson that I can't pick out clothes for her anymore.  It makes me sad.  So I can kind of relate to your mom.  Good luck:)

  2. you could try to convince her to let you shop on-line, they have really good stuff and sales online, but you have to pay shipping :( some good websites are alloy.com, ae.com, hollisterco.com, and gojane.com. good luck! :)

  3. Ask your mother to please put you on a clothing allowance. It will be so much a year and cover everything that shows. It will be up to you to not spend the entire year's worth of money in one season. When you purchase something write it in a clothing notebook with a description and price paid. This way you can keep track of what you have chosen and how much money you have left for the rest of the year. If you show maturity and sense in this effort your mom should let you choose clothing that is in the modesty range that she dictates. You will have gained maturity and freedom from Penney's clothes!

  4. I dunno. The clothes in the children's section at JC Penney are pretty stylish and mostly inappropriate for girls of the age they are made for. My trendy sister-in-law is 21 and just bought a dress from there voluntarily when we were out shopping. The cashiers were tiny adults and admitted to purchasing from that section to. Tough it up and when you are 18 or have a job and can buy your own clothes know you can pick out whatever you like. Until then, if your mom is paying for your clothes, she unfortunately as a say in what she buys you. Or, suggest you guys browse for clothes you can both agree on and go shopping to look for clothes for her too. She just may be annoyed by shopping with a whiny 15 year old that doesn't appreciate her and is only thinking of herself at the mall!

  5. tell her she will be WASTING her money...Moms never like to hear that....then you need to ask for what she was gonna spend and buy what you want....tell her thanks MOM, I love you.....
