Question:

Help! My 16 year old brother is an alcoholic!?

He's been stealing from my parents liquor cabinet. My parents found out and dumped all of it. But somehow he ends up drunk at night.

It's one thing to be drinking at a party, it's a whole different story if he does it alone. Which he does.

How should I confront this. I found HIDDEN bottles outside in our yard.

I have no idea what to do. Should I tell my parent? Should I confront him?

  1. Both. If you ignore it, it will only get worse and you can just imagine what the rest of his life would be like. The sooner the better. Poor kid. Good luck :o)

  2. i think that you should tell your parents and all of you address him together as a family. maybe family classes would help to get him through this, this is not only his problem its the family's problem.

  3. Nail the iron while it's hot is what i say. though i think he's already got a liking to it, but i really do wonder how it taste like...i can't even hope of getting a drop of it with the parents i have and I'm 18...and a few months

  4. You should tell your parents immediately and let them talk with your brother.   He needs help now the problem will only get worse so tell your parents now.  They can send him to a drying out place where alcoholics go.  They will keep him for about a month and when he gets out, he should be OK.

    Good luck,

  5. u definately want to do something, but also try finding out what his motive is to resorting to the alcohol.
