Question:

Help! My basement smells horrible!!

My washing machine was leaking underneath and I had a plumber come over and he replaced some tubing behind the washer. The next day I ran a load and when I went into the laundry room the water was worse than before the plumber was here. Now, the adjoining room (which is carpeted) stinkis to high heaven. I think it's mold but I've never smelled this before. Do I really need to replace this carpet or is there something else I can do to get rid of the smell in both rooms? Any help would be so much appreciated!!!

  1. You need to pull up the carpet and get air under them to get them completely dry or you will have mold.  You should already have a dehumidifier in the basement just make sure it is on high.
