I have a nine month old red tail boa, he has been well taken care of and handled everyday. He was really friendly, I could carry him all over the house even on my wrist while I did my homework for college. I went on vacation for a week and had a friend stay at my house with him. Yesterday I went to pick him up and he bit me 3 times. I waited until today to try again and he bit me the second my hand went in his tank. He is not hungry, I tried to feed him. What do I do? Why is he acting like this? My friend says nothing happened to him.

  1. It could be that your friend hurt him and doesn't want to tell you. He could be not so trusting anymore.

  2. Well, to me your friend sounds suspicious. Or he could be mad that you left him with a stranger for so long. Who knows with snakes?

  3. Do you happen to smell like anything you might feed him? Maybe you smell like rats or mice or something. I have known larger snakes to bite based on that.
