When I have the motor hooked up to the garden hose, all is well. It starts over and over. When I bring it to the lake, it turns over about 20 times and the battery starts to die. After about 5 minutes, the battery is toast and the motor hasn't even tried to turn over. Help!!!

  1. 23 years of service, retire the motor! I have goofed around and messed with older motors. When you break down in a car AAA is there soon, and never that much of a big deal . When you break down in the open sea, a whole different story! Unless you never leave sight of land where a paddle or trolling motor will get you safely back, spring a little cash and buy a new motor. Hopefully the new one will give you 20 years of service! Tight lines and good fishing

  2. when you tilt the boat going down, could that do something to your fuel line or carb, maybe flood it in some strange way.

Try letting boat sit for 10 -15 min after launch. I am no mechanic, but something is better than nothing. Logic sometimes works.

  3. There are 2 exhaust holes on the back of the engine that have to out of the water if they are below the water it puts to much back pressure on the engine and can make hard starting>Tilt the eng up some if that is the cause? Get a new battery as it seems a little week?
