I believe my cat is about to give birth. She started meowing very weird about 11 hours ago. She will move place to place, and she will just stay in one place for a long time. I am afraid the kittens will be born with problems or even dead. I really do not know what to do. She is just a little over a year and a half old!

  1. If a cat is having babies you should really take care about what she eats, choose the best vegetables, cat food around. Then she will

have healthy babies. My friend had a cat and this advice helped her alot.

  2. She should be fine. Now make sure that she has a comfortable box in a dark closet away from foot traffic to give birth. Show her the box and put  some food and water near by. If she starts to have problems you will need to call an emergency vet, but most cats do fine. If she seems nervous while giving birth, just stay nearby reassuring her. Most cats handle this all on their own.

  3. if a queen(mother cat of breeding age) feels stressed at all they can actually postpone delivery of their kittens.  this happened to us a few years ago. try to get her to a place that is darker and quiet and that she is comfortable in.  i had to follow ours around the house cause she couldnt decide where she wanted to be either. if it is her first litter she is probly scared and not sure what is happening. soon, though nature will inevitably kick in and she will get the hang of it. call your e-vet and fill them in if you are worried that the kiitens or her might be in distress. our cat took 12 hours to deliver her first kitten, because he came feet first and she wasnt dialating enough at first. her water broke early which didnt help much either, but with a little coaxing he finally came around and started acting like a normal baby. even if you have to follow her around and mid-wife if she is alright with you doing that , everything should be fine.  good luck and remember that the vet is always just a phone call away, and they will help if you need it.  congrats

  4. You just said that she had a miscarriage what does that mean? How far along with she? Suggest you get her to a vet to be checked out and get her spayed ASAP.

  5. Provide the queen with a warm and comfortable place to give birth. make a queening box out of a cardboard box, cut down at one side and lined with newspaper. Have some essential items at hand

cotton balls, petroleum jelly, safe disinfectant, alcohol, scissors, thermometer

The first stage of labor can last as long as 6 hours but is usually shorter a clear vaginal discharge may be seen

2nd Stage: She starts "bearing down" Make a not of the time that she starts to strain, and if a kitten is not born within 30 min contact a vet.

The mother cat instinctively knows what to do. She bites through the umbilical cord with her teeth

Good luck wish I could write all the steps here but it would be too long anywho hope this helped a little

  6. First:  STAY CALM.  Don't panic.

Next:  put her in a room away from other animals and people. Put old towels or cloths, or even shredded newspapers in a carton (at least 2ft.x 2ft.).  Show her that it is the "whelping box" by putting her in there every time she gets out, unless she is going to the water bowl which you will set nearby.  If you don't have a clean carton,  empty out the lowest drawer of a dresser or use a clothes basket.

Watch from afar as she may not want anyone real near.  But do watch in case anything goes wrong. I will pray for your kitty, as it could be impossible to get a Vet on a holiday week end.

Now, your part:  get her spayed as soon as Vet says it is OK.

  7. Laurie is right.  Most cats can handle giving birth on their own.  When my cats would deliver, I would just sit by them and pet them.  She will do everything.

Be prepared for her to eat the sack and afterbirth.  It is gross, so you might want to leave the room for a couple of minutes while she does this.  She will then clean the baby.

Good luck and talk to a vet about getting her spayed when the kittens are old enough.

  8. she should be fine. Just get her a towel to lay on and she'll get comfortable on it. the babies will come when their ready my cat ended up having hers inside the cheroot case so please get a towel. hope this helps

  9. my cat was a year old when she had her kittens and they all turned out fine (one of them was born not breathing but my mom gave it mouth to mouth and he's now a very healthy, very big cat)

have soem old towels or old blankets handy for when the time comes.keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't run off and hide. when she starts having the kittens make sure she cleans off them and make sure they're breathing.
