  1. Have you tried reformatting the drive? You will lose everything you downloaded and all program files. It doesn't pay to save any programs and such because of all the viruses. Before doing this be sure to have a manufactures installation cd that came with the computer when you bought it. Load it in and several options are available ,pne being install new copy, from there it will ask if you want to reformat drive, repair drive and faulty programs. That will take you to another screen that ask which partition do you want to install new copy to. There are two partitions one is the one that holds the old installation and the other is a sub partition that holds files essential for the operation of the computer,it is not reccommended to install a new copy to that partition. Otherwise there are some good programs out there that can remove viruses and more. In your start bar there should be in the accessories a program to clean up your drive, check there first of all and go from there. The draw back to reformatting is that you lose everything and have to do a complete reinstall of any programs you downloaded from the internet, including internet provider and such. By the way programs can still be recovered even after reformatting, there still there and can be recovered by special software. System Mechanic has all the programs you need in one bundle to take care of all problems including recovery of programs, firewall, and a system protect. Two versions are available one of them is the pro version and will absolutely knock anything out of your drive that is harmful. Cost a bit but is well worth the money. GOOD LUCK...

  2. First of all download Lavasoft Ad Aware software and then sacn your computer completely. Second, install the latest antivirus and update it then scan your computer again. Don't visit too many websites as it may effect the computer again.

  3. If there are so many problems, system installation will be the best.  Use your system disc that came with your computer and re-install the whole operating system.

  4. You should have received a system recovery cd.  Insert that into the cd drive and boot up.  You may have to F10 or F12 to select to boot from the cd rom. Then following the on-screen installation. If you do not have the recovery disk then you will need the Windows disk.
