Help ! My computer magically turns itself on an hour after shutdown?

Question

after I shut it down,the base unit (not monitor though) comes alive again after a couple of hours-scary in the middle of night!! I've checked the"power options"and there all fine.The only way around this prob. is to shut it off at the wall socket(Hassle).N.B I also have a power button on my keyboard.can anyone help?

If your UPS is on, then it must be some anti-virus program trying to update itself. So, please turn off your UPS after using your computer. You can also check the anti-virus scheduled tasks to confirm this. If confirmed, disable that schedule.

It could be also a virus, scan your computer with an Anti-virus program.

is the pc softboot, if so sounds like an issue with a switch, could either be the main on off switch, power supply or even the motherboard, firstly check unplug the main on off switch from the motherboard and see if the problem still occurs

Nothing  problem. Check your settings if u have put ur computer or your hard disk in a sleep state or u may have activate the sleep state of ur comp. Go and check in the BIOS  settings if u have activate any timer for the hard disk.

You will have to go into BIOS to rectify it.There is no ghost in your home.

Who cares how much hassle it is to turn off the computer at the socket??  Do it.  Lower your energy usage, reduce your carbon footprint, have smaller electricity bills and make your power supply last longer.
