A few days ago I stepped on a bee and it hurt like heck. It wasn't swelling until yesterday. It is purple, swelling up, and a trail of red dots is going up my foot....is this normal? What should I do? [[10 points to whoever helps the most.]] Thank you so much.

  1. hm..maybe an allergic reaction.  If you don't have acute symptoms like headache or having trouble breathing, just use ice the area and rest...otherwise go see your doctor

  2. that happened to my cousin. She ended up allergicc to bees. go to the emergency room right away.

  3. go to the doctor fast. the red is poisons from the bite. have you ever been stung before? Do you have any breathing problems? If the streaks of dots, keeps traveling up into the legs then the poison is traveling and you may be having a severe allergic reaction. Please go to the doctor

  4. You could be having a delayed reaction to the bee sting.  You can still have a reaction from it for up to a week after being stung.  If the "purple- ness" and swelling still continue seek medical advise immediately.

Systemic reactions such as hives, redness, or swelling elsewhere on the body, vomiting, dizziness, hoarseness, thickened speech, or difficulty breathing, should receive prompt medical care from a doctor.  Also, be sure to see a doctor if there were 10 or more stings, or if one of the stings was inside the nose or mouth, since swelling can interfere with breathing.

Take Ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory to help with swelling and pain.

Take Benadryl to relieve local itching. Benadryl is an anti-histamine that will help with the histamine release and itching. It will cause drowsiness and drying or oral and nasal tissues.

    Hope that's of some help

    Good Luck

  5. You need to go see a doctor, my mum has that and she couldn't drive for ages.  After that experience she got Arthritus.   Please see a Doctor, my mum went to late and some very bad painkillers, because she went in too late.   The red dots are normal.   Sorry i forgot what it's called.

Good Luck and i hope your ok

  6. I would have thought that any allergic reaction would have been imediate.

Could it BEE that thw wound is infected.  If it became septic the septic poison can travle up your limb and BEE very serious indeed!!!!

It was when you said a trail of dots going up your leg that I got concerned.

I really think you need to go and seek medical advice ASAP to BEE on the safe side.  If the doctors offices are closed go to the local hospitals emergency ward.

  7. i've stepped on bees before and it only swelled a bit, but i was rushed to hospital cause everyone in my family is deathly allergic to bees!

if i were you i'd go to emerg as soon as you can, just to get checked out. you may not be deathly allergic but it sure as h**l doesn't sound right. so i'd go get it checked out. for your own health and safety!!

    good luck!

  8. it sounds like your allergic you should take some allergy pills and then stick your foot in really hot water as long as you can and then really cold water as log as you can put ice in the cold water and just do that over and over again.

                       hope this helps

  9. did u get the stinger out? you cant do anything at the moment but get to the doctor/ emergency room ASAP. they can help u the best

  10. well that happened to me once and my foot just got swollen but no red dots or anything. Go see a doctor now you might be allergic.

  11. if you are allergic to it you can even die. The red dots are bad if it is coagulated blood. I would go to the emergency room immediately.

  12. the only way its not normal is if you learn you are allergic.  if your not, then just let it heal.  Plus, you use your feet to walk, so it might take longer to heal then a limb that can be inactive for awhile, like an arm.

so just try to deal with the swelling and you'l get better

  13. This is an allergic reaction and you need to get to the Er right away to get this under control. You would hate for  that to take over your leg and possibly lose your leg or for the infection to reach you bloodstream and travel to your heart. There are many complications from bee stings. Call the ambulance if need be, but you do need to get this treated at the hospital and not fool around with an infection this bad. Somethings can be taken care of at home, but this is beyond.

  14. I dont know if it is normal but you need to elevate it above your heart so the blood stops rushing to it and put ice on it keep it like that for at least twenty minutes take a break from the ice then do it again

  15. You are allergic.  See a doctor and get medication.  make sure you don't swell up anywhere above your knee. If you feel tender anywhere at your knee or your thigh you need to get to the ER.
