Help!! My four year old is grinding!!?

My four year old climbed into bed with me last night. In the middle of the night I was woken up by the sound of her grinding her teeth. The sound was so loud, it sounded like she was chewing on sand. How can I help her not to grind and can the dentist provide anything for her too?

  1. they can give her a mouth guard to sleep with. a few of my family members grinde thier teeth. i belive the guard protects there teeth and over time they wont need it anymore.  


  2. buy a mouth guard she can put it in before she goes to sleep .you better buy one soon if she wears her teeth down she going to be in a lot of pain she may even have a hard time eating

  3. i dont think its too much to worry about but do ask your doctor / dentist why if you are very worried about it.

    im now 19 and have been grinding my teeth since i was about 7; my sister first heard it from her room across the hallway; thats how loud it gets :s. i don't ever feel any of it and my teeth are in perfectly good condition.

    some say grinding your teeth in your sleep is stress related but im not particularly stressed so im not sure.  

  4. Yes, your dentist will want to make her a mouthguard.  They are expensive and will probably be hard for your four year old to sleep with, but she will probably get used to it over time.

  6. There are night mouth guards available, but I'm not sure if they make them for children. I would assume that they do. Talk to her dentist before the problem gets worse, though.

  7. Go to the dentist.  they should be able to fit her with a night guard to wear.  It will protect her teeth from being worn down.

  8. Yes. The dentist can provide her with a mouth guard. Don't let to go for to long because it will cause her teeth to become brittle.

Yes, I Grind and My Dentist Gave Me A Little Gummy Thing That Goes On Your Teeth like What Football Players wear for the Teeth except it doesnt Stick out of course there like Trays and go on top and bottom teeth or baby teeth Go To Dentist Immedatly and ask for it They Will Give it to you or goe to Store Like Wal Mart or CVS! Good Luck Bcz Grinding can cause Serious Conditions ACT NOW my advice:))

  12. the dentist might not want to make her a mouth piece because her teeth are moving and growing.

  13. Get her a mouth guard it helps... my bf does it it soooo annoying! Or let hey sleep with the teeth whitening tray in her mouth
