Help! My hamster might be dying!

Question

I have been on vacation for 12 days and my mother watched my pet hamster. My hamster is only 1 and a half. She is a striped cream colored hamster (a teddy bear). My mother informed be today that my hamster is slow and sleeping a lot. Is she possibly depressed that I haven't been around, or is she dying? I hope she is just depressed. I'm not ready for her death, and she is my first pet. Please help!

Note: My hamster had bleeding from her backside a week before hand, then it stopped and she was fine (she was in 'the heat'). My uncle (a small animal vet, 15 years experience) said she was fine. So I'm hoping she is just depressed. I hope so! :(

hamsters only live 1and a half to 2 years. I just lost 2 in 3 months. i have one left who is 2. All you can do is love them while they are here.

I'm sorry.. I cant answer your question but I can relate..

My hamsters die all the time.. Either they get sick or they kill each other... Yes.. kill each other.. One of my hamsters name 'Pepper' (she was black and white) had kill my other hamster 'Cocoa' (she was all brown and she was my fav!) I dunno how.. But Pepper was the only hamster in the cage and Cocoa just died.. and she was stiff.. it was so scary..

Maybe she simply is just sleeping and tired? Hamsters are nocturnal, and if she is active at night, I'm sure she is fine, like your uncle says. Be sure to give it lots of love, too. I hope everything goes fine! (=

dont think she is dying they live to be about 5 years or so and she has alot of time ahead of her she is prob depressed cuz she dont have a mate.

she is not dieing! hamster's are lazy lol all my hamsters I had lived for long long time and they did that and I highly doubt that the hamster would care if you where there or not cause they are very independent so she wasn't depressed ...
