Even after its fully charged, my iPod won't even let me play one second of a song before it dies. Is there anything I can do besides get a new battery to make it start working again?

  1. ipod or apple has a problem with the old ipod nanos. There was a lawsuit so go to their website and you get something like a $50 credit on itunes. The following excerpt was taken from the website in the sources.

Apple has agreed to settle a class action suit filed against it by owners of iPods who say the company misrepresented the capabilities of the iPod’s built-in rechargeable battery. Apple is offering a US$50 coupon and extended warranties to consumers who can produce a receipt. The plan is expected to receive final approval before a federal judge in August, but the details are already in place.

  2. try re-starting it.

do this by holding the center button and the menu button at the same time for about 5-10 seconds. it should turn off and start up with the apple icon.

  3. you need to get a new battery you'll have to send it to apple to get it fixed.

  4. The battery sounds like the culprit.  There are DIY kits on ebay that go through the steps of replacing the battery.  Most ipods, it's a pretty simple procedure.  Do a search on YouTube if you want to see how easy it is, just search for ipod battery until you find your model and you should find several decent videos.

I refurbish ipods and most battery replacements take no longer than a half hour, most less than half that.
