Question:

Help! My new miniature horse has a horrible haircut!!?

I just got a new mini and they cut her bangs and it looks like she has a bad wig on! She has REALLY thick hair and I think that is half the problem of why it looks so bad! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make her look better or thin out the bangs without it looking worse?! TIA!

  1. take her to a beauty salon! jk,

um, maybe you could layer the mini's mane or cut the top layer off the bangs.

  2. When I read your question, I just couldn't help but click on it... what a funny story!

If you want to cut it yourself, you could try the "layering" look.

Divide the bangs into layers and cut from the top layer down, lengthening each layer as you go long (use a comb to brush through each layer and to determine the length you want to cut off).

Once you get to around the middle layer, start shortening each layer (pin up the previous layers to make it easier to cut).

If you want to avoid cutting her hair, pin it up with cute hairpins! I'm sure she'd look adorable :)

I recommend mostly that you hire a professional (even if it's your local hairstylist) to come and thin out the bangs.

  3. I'd have to look at it to see, but thinning shears may help make it lie flat.  But once it starts to grow out it will probably make it worse, the thick new hair at the base will probably make it poof out.  I would suggest just leaving it alone.  If its long enough you can braid so that way you won't have to look at. Just make sure the braid is lose so t won't be itchy, and re-braid it every couple of days.  I had a mini who had a really thick fore lock, we braided it to keep it nice and long.  You can also use a little bit of leave in conditioner, it will keep it from having that fro and frizzy look.

    Good luck.

  4. why don't u tie ribbons in her hair(so cute!)

    or

ask the groomer to make it look better

    hope i helped!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  5. Try a thinning comb. There's a really good one called a SOLO comb. You basically "pull" the horses mane, but without pulling it. It cuts the hair off at the base, so it's as good as pulled :)

  6. Agree with Lus, just leave the FORELOCK alone.

  7. I use thinning shears on my horses' mane they give a more natural look.

  8. Poor thing!  Thick manes should NEVER be cut with regular scissors, for that very reason.  I think the best thing to do is just leave it alone.  It will grow out faster if you don't touch it.  You could pull some of it to thin it out and make it less poofy, but it's still going to be short.  If it was my pony, I'd leave it be and sit tight.

In the meantime, you could braid it for her so she looks a little more presentable.
