Help! My sister keeps telling us she's going to cut our throats while we're sleeping!!!!!!?

She's 17 and she keeps threatening us if our parents don't let her go out (her friends are druggies/goths-that's why) She keeps putting up fake stuff on the internet about the family!! Our parents don't want to call the police and saying it's just a stage, but she's already scarred my arm!!!

She really needs to be admitted into a hospital.  They can monitor her there and get her a phych evaluation.  If she making threats, thats not just a stage she will grow out of.  She has issues and needs to deal with them by talking to a councelor.  But tell your parents that she needs to be taken to the hospital.

Phase or not she needs some mental treatment..she obviously has some issues going on. I would get a psyciatrist and prevent her from seeing the people who influence these behaviors. My older sister acted this way for a bit but it was really strange because she was like the church girl...yet she would right "i want to kill my family in their sleep" THIS IS A VERY SCARY THING TO READ!!! She wouldnt talk to the thearipist however.. but now shes completely normal...she was just angry with the world because she grew up sick so did get to do a lot of things that we did. Tell your sister you love her and try and help her...but I think she needs thearapy as well.

you ur self need to call the police, act own this, even if shes jsut faking then call her bluff, and put her in jail for a day, that will scare a little kindness in to her.....good luck

That's some pretty serious stuff.  It's better to do something now than look back and say "I wish we would have..."  See if there is some type of crisis/help group in your town that you can go and ask questions and get help.  If it's bad enough, your parents could always commit her to some type of hospital for observation and therapy.  God bless your family.  I pray that you will find some help in your area.  It has got to be scary.

Your parents need to give their heads a shake.

It is not a phase, its a real threat.

She needs help and you all need to feel safe in your own home. Anyone who says she is just talking and won't do it are foolish. No one can possibly know how serious she is or is not. So why take that chance?

The next time she threatens you, call the police. When they arrive, let them know of her history. As well, your parents need to look into get her admitted for psychiatric help. That can be done through an ER... of which you can ask the police to take her there. That way, no one in your home is forcing her into a vehicle and possibly putting themself at risk.

Your parents are in over their heads. If they don't listen to your sister and take her threats seriously, then you need to leave the house and go stay with an Aunt, Grandparent or friend.

Your parents need to take her to a therapist before she really does do you harm.  Teenagers are capable of doing crazy things.  It's not at all uncommon anymore to hear of a teen killing their parents.

If you are serious, you need to immediately take action.  You need to send her to an inhouse clinic, to the police, to military school, anywhere.  This is the kind of situation people shake their heads over when reading the morning newspaper -- the girl who killed her parents.  It happens.  For real.  This is a serious danger.  If your parents are too afraid to do something for whatever reason (likely because they probably think they will have to admit doing something wrong by admitting their daughter is screwed up) it is up to you to save you, your parent's, AND your sister's life.
